Episode 84: Mayor Guthrie’s City Update
Sunday Apr 10, 2022
Sunday Apr 10, 2022
On Thursday 31 March, Mayor Guthrie gave his State of the City address to the Guelph Chamber of Commerce. At the first in-person SOTC since 2019, he spoke of HOMES, GROWTH, TRUST, EQUITY, TRANSIT, COSTS, and COVID.
He visited us and answered our questions about:
a new hospital in Guelph (did you know that communities - not the province - must pay for hospital equipment?),
the effect of inflation on the status of capital projects - and the importance of the City fulfilling contractual obligations,
improvements in Guelph Transit,
the Property Assessed Clean Energy Program,
the OR lands (and parklands in general),
and housing (Wellington County handles Housing and Social Services for Guelph).

Episode 83: Moccasin Identifier Project
Monday Apr 04, 2022
Monday Apr 04, 2022
This week’s Breezy Breakfast is a wonderful acknowledgement of those who first walked on this land.
During the 2011 Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation Annual Historical Gathering, archaeologists asked Elder Carolyn King, “When the archaeological resources are removed, how will we ever know that your people were here?”
Carolyn thought about their question for three days. The answer was “our footwear!” From there, the Moccasin Identifier was born and began its decade-long journey.
This project has been developed by Carolyn King in partnership with Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and The Greenbelt Foundation to promote public awareness of significant cultural historic sites and the ancestral presence of First Nations, Metis, and Indigenous Communities.
The vision: To advance treaty and indigenous awareness by covering Canada in Moccasins.
The mission: To educate children on treaties through the Moccasin Identifier educational kit, promote public awareness of Indigenous culture on the landscape through site installations of moccasins, and develop a network of knowledge for the benefit of truth and reconciliation.
We are honoured to have Elder Carolyn King as our special guest this week.
